Getting to Warsaw
There are two international airports in/near Warsaw: the Chopin airport, which is located in the city, and the Modlin airport, which is around 45km away from Warsaw. Many budget lines operate to/from the Modlin airport, while regular airlines are mostly operated to/from the Chopin airport. There are also train connections from Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Croatia and Hungary to Warsaw Central Train Station.
Chopin airport – city centre
There are multiple options to get from the Chopin airport to the city centre, including taxi, hotel shuttle buses and public transport (city trains and buses). You can choose a train to get to the metro lines (follow the “Train” arrows at the airport to get from the terminal to the train station):
- S2 line to stop “Warszawa Śródmieście” where you can walk to the M1 metro line (5 min walk)
- S3 line to stop “Warszawa Centralna” which is 10 min walk from the M1 metro line
You can also choose a bus from the bus terminal at the airport:
- Line 188 goes to the city centre (stop “Marszałkowska”) where you can change into other buses or trams; or you can get of at stop “Metro Politechnika” to change into the M1 metro line
- If you want to go from the airport straight to the conference venue, you can take line 175 and get of on the stop “Uniwersytet” or “Pl. Piłsudskiego” (5 min walk to Karowa street)
Modlin airport – city centre
Modlin airport is conected to the city centre via bus and train lines. If you choose the train you need to use a shuttle bus from the airport to the Modlin train station. Buses are operated by Contbus and Flixbus straight from the terminal. Please consult the operators’ websites for schedule and pricing.
Getting around Warsaw
Warsaw has a good public transportation system and you can take advantage of the many bus & tram routes as well as of the metro lines. The stops closest to the conference venue are: “Nowy Świat – Uniwersytet” (M2 line), “Hotel Bristol” (lines 116, 178, 180), “Uniwersytet” (lines 106, 111, 116, 128, 175, 178, 180, 503), and “Plac Zamkowy” (lines 116, 178, 180, 503). If the weather is nice, you can also use the bike rental system (Veturilo) – rides up to 20 min. are free of charge on both regular and e-bikes. To use it, you need to download the app and prepay 10 PLN (around 2.5€). The closest Veturilo stations are near the “Uniwersytet” and “Hotel Bristol” bus stops.
If you plan on using public transport in Warsaw, you can install the jakdojade app on your phone. It has all schedules in one place, it searches for best connections and routes, and allows you to buy tickets for your chosen routes.
Accommodation
The conference venue is walking distance from the Old Town and thus there are multiple accommodation options, for varied budgets, and plenty restaurants and bars to enjoy your time in Warsaw.
The closest hotels are (5 stars) Hotel Bristol, Bellotto, (4 stars) Tiffi Old Town, Flaner Hotel, (3 star) Sleep Well Apartments. There are also many budget options such as hostels (e.g. Deja Vu Hostel just across the street from the venue).
